threadTALK Blog Series 2: Mama for the First Time with Shauna Bligh
We got right into the juicy details of Shauna Bligh's life as a first-time mom and the motivation behind her Instagram page.
Q Tell us a little bit about yourself and your interests
A My name is Shauna, I'm 34 years old and originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. I currently live in California (because who can handle all that snow?) and am happy to raise my daughter near the beach, which is a huge thing for me. My first love was at the beach. My passion is crafting, any and everything is game. I also like to cheer for the Green Bay Packers, as if I had any choice being from there!
Q What inspires you and what is the message behind your Instagram page?
A I think it's pretty clear that my daughter inspires me the most. When we found out we were pregnant, it was a little nerve-wracking at first. Being on the 'older' end of new parents, we were already very set in our ways. Not surprisingly, she arrived, changed our whole world and we wouldn't have it any other way. I started my Instagram account as a way to connect to other moms, track my daughter's life, and hopefully turn it into a hobby (which it definitely has become!).
Q What do you like most about Thread Tank?
A Okay seriously what do I not like. I would say that the comfort of the shirts is the best part, but I also LOVE the designs. I chose "Mom Life Is The Best Life" because, well duh. And I chose the Wisconsin "ROOTS" shirt, because I'm so proud to be from the greatest town in the country!
Q Tell us about your experience so far as a first-time mom. - Were there any surprises that you did not expect? If you can give some key advice to first-time mothers what would it be?
A To be completely honest, we weren't sure if we wanted children. So when I was pregnant I didn't feel that immediate connection that other moms talk about, and that surprised me a bit. I worried about it a little, but now I can tell you it's completely normal. As soon as my daughter was put in my arms I knew my life would never be the same. I've found a love I never knew existed, I would do anything for this babe. I am completely obsessed with being her mom, and wouldn't change that for anything. My biggest piece of advice is, however, you're feeling is normal. Don't stress out if you don't feel exactly the same way that other people do, or how you expected to feel.

Q What is/are some of the most rewarding things about being a mother?
A Watching her grow up is the most rewarding experience. Seeing every new stage and milestone is a feeling you can't understand until you're a mother. It's completely bittersweet because each one means your tiny baby is growing up, but it's amazing to witness. When she started giving me "smoochies," my life was complete.

Q We love that you were able to find your story within our designs. If you were to give a title to your life STORY, what would it be and why?
A That's a hard one. My life has really happened in stages. Single adult life, married adult life, and now motherhood. I didn't meet my husband until my late twenties, and I didn't become a mother until my mid-thirties. So my life has taken on many different titles. Right now, my life story matches my blog title: Staying Home Sawyer. It is very important to me that I stay home with her, and I'm fortunate enough that I've been able to for her first year (and beyond!). It's such a cliche, but for me, "Mom Life is the Best Life" are the truest words I've ever heard.
