Read more to find out about Miah's infertility journey, her step son, and how she's doing as a new mom!
Q Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your page @miahinreallife!
A Hello! I'm Miah a 31 year old Bonus mom to an eight year old boy and a new mom to our 3 month old boy! My husband and I struggled with infertility for all of our marriage and got pregnant naturally after 7 years! We had a healthy pregnancy and have a very happy little boy! My page is about motherhood after infertility. I share my opinion on all things mom and step mom.
Q I can feel the strength in the posts that you share, can you tell us more about your infertility story?
A It took us 7 LONG years. It was a lot of heartache monthly. Infertility can break you, if you let it. All I can say is that it makes you REALLY good at waiting, even if you don't want to!
Q What is one thing you wish you knew when going through infertility and what advice would you give to those going through their journey?
A I wish I would have healed from my childhood quicker! It took till about year 3 and hiding an alcohol addiction for me to have a come to Jesus moment. I realized that I couldn't control when I had a baby, but I could control what kind of mom they were getting. They could get a healed mother or a broken one. I started to love on myself and transform from the inside. I reached out and forgave and made peace with people and situations that occupied too much of my mental space. I felt lighter and for once looked in the mirror and saw my true self...I was pregnant soon after. I gave my child the gift of a healed momma!
Q Time seems to have a way of working itself out! What was that moment like when you found out you were pregnant after 7 years?
A I was in complete disbelief! I took 3 more test from different brands and they all said yes! It really took my time to completely be joyous! my husband also just couldn't believe it!
Q We love that you also share stories about being a bonus mom! What’s the most challenging and rewarding parts about co parenting?
A Our children watch what we do! We treat his family with as much love as we treat our own. His brother from his mom's side has had sleepovers at our home and our in-laws.
We really want to show him healthy and healed adults the best we can. It took time to establish it all but it was and is completely worth it!
QWhat's your journey like so far as a new mom? What's something you wish you knew going into it and something that surprises you in the best way possible?
A I didn't realize how strong and resilient I was. I'm currently typing at my computer and breast feeding all at the same time! I wish I knew to rest after having a baby. That 4th trimester is so crucial for mothers mental health!
Mothers should be supported more in that last trimester with baby!
Q Lastly, if you were to describe your life story in one word or phrase, what would it be and why?
A I would have to say victorious! No matter what at the end of the day I'm going to have a victory!
