Stay at Home Super Mom YouTuber with Lynette Yoder

Lights, camera, action!  On this edition of threadTALK - Influencer Blog Feature we have Lynette Yoder, a youtube influencer who is a stay at home super mom. 

A    Hi! My name is Lynette Yoder. Iʼm a wife to Nic - And mom to our two boys, Kaden (5) and Jaxon (4) Iʼm almost 30 (yikes). Iʼm a SAHM and Lifestyle Youtuber. We just moved to Sarasota, Florida from Southern Ohio. Something I get asked quite a bit is, ‘what religion are youʼ? I like to say that Iʼm a Christian first of all, and a Mennonite as a way of life :) As far as my YouTube channel - I share a lot of things related to Home and Family. I enjoy decorating and organizing, even cleaning ;) and various other things. We are currently still remodeling our home so I love sharing all of that with anyone who is interested! I love the design and while Iʼm not trained or have any schooling in it, itʼs something I enjoy very much and my husband and I hope to one day be able to get into more ‘house flippingʼ etc.

Q   How did you get your start as a YouTuber - what made you decide to want to create videos and what inspires you?

A   How did I get my start? I watched Youtubers for a long time and thought about doing it.. and my family told me I should try it. But it took me a long time to actually get the courage to do it. But in December of 2016, I uploaded a Christmas Home Decor Tour as my first video, and it went from there! I really didnʼt put a lot of thought into it. I didnʼt know what I was doing :) But I decided Iʼd try it and see what happens. I filmed and did most of the editing on my iPhone for close to a year! So truly- anyone can do it! I wanted a way to share some of the things I enjoy doing.. I saw others doing it and thought ‘I could do thatʼ! I love seeing something old be made into a beautiful thing! I also wanted to be a witness for the Lord and be an encouragement to people as well as be able to shed some ‘truthʼ as to who the Mennonites and Amish are. :)

Q   Have you faced any challenges in regards to your channel and how did you overcome them?

A   Any challenges? Well, Thereʼs always the thing of knowing how to balance youtube and being a mom, wife, and taking care of the house.. but thatʼs probably the same for most people. :). Iʼve had a lot of questions and some criticism about our personal life choices etc. Most, of which I donʼt mind answering, but some have been a bit hard as well. However, I know Iʼm putting myself out there so I expect it :) In general, Iʼm so encouraged and humbled by the thousands of people who are so kind and encouraging to me! Itʼs what keeps me going!

Q   You mentioned that your family had influence in starting your YouTube channel, so how do they feel now that it has become a part of your life - do they enjoy being on camera?

A  Yes, my family did and still do encourage me! They are all pretty supportive! But I still try to be careful to not make them uncomfortable etc and I don’t always film when I’m around them.️ I’m very grateful for the support group I have behind me!

Q  What is the process of creating a video like for you? Planning, filming, editing, publishing - how long does it typically take to put out a video?

A That is a loaded question! It’s honestly never the same. I’m not one who plans out too far in advance. I’ve found if I put a lot of deadlines in my schedule it creates extra stress for me.. and as a Busy mom, that isn’t always the best for my sanity.

   I do have to plan and film in advance for certain things of course, especially if I work with a company on a sponsored video. There will then be a lot of emailing back and forth, signing things, sending things for them to review and approvals. A video from start to finish can take anywhere from 3 hours to 6-8 hours I’d say. But that’s pretty general. It really depends on the type of video. Some videos also take more time to film- so it’s hard to really say.  

  I do a lot of editing at night since my boys are still at home all day. I try to film during the day if I can, and occasionally I’ll have a babysitter so I can get things done. Once the video is live I like to be able to respond to comments and interact with people.  I do very much enjoy it though! Otherwise, I wouldn’t keep doing it! I’m humbled and blessed with how God has blessed us!

Q   Lastly, we love that you were able to relate your story with our designs. If you were to give a title to your life story, what would it be and why?

A  Oh wow! That’s a hard one! I guess I’ve never truly thought about a title too seriously.  I don’t know if I have anything specific. I do know I want to love my family better. We want to change our family tree financially and be able to bless others in big ways!  I’m an adventurer at heart. I’d love to be able to travel the world! And my dream is to be able to work as a husband/wife team in whatever avenue the Lord takes us in business etc.
